The ARK Mission:
Our goals are Akita education first and foremost, along with promoting responsible ownership, breeding, and rescue practices. We strive to keep potential homeless Akitas in their current homes through behavior modification, health awareness, and basic breed knowledge. ARK is a participating member of the Akita Club of America. ARK was founded in 2000 by a group of concerned Akita enthusiasts after realizing the huge issue of Akita homelessness in the NW and the need for educated responsible breed rescue.
- The Kennels are located in Athena, OR (Just North of Pendleton, OR)
- We are a 501C-3 tax deductible organization
- We are a breed specific Kennel not a shelter
- Breed education is important to us
- We are a member of the Akita Club of America
- We encourage proper obedience training
- Volunteers are a big part of what we do
- Our adoptees are screened and home checked
- Our orphans receive the highest quality of care
- We encourage participation through donations
- We strive for the best foster care homes
- We are regional serving Oregon and beyond
- Clean facilities are a top concern at the ARK
- Problem solving and owner support is our passion
- We have successfully placed over 30 Akitas
- We are dedicated to preserving the Akita legacy
